When Multiple Rules Match
How Partnersify picks one rule when several are eligible, highest commission wins, with tier tie-breaking.
Your portal can have many rules. A single line item may match more than one. Partnersify always picks one rule per line item.
How rules are filtered
Before comparing, rules are filtered by:
- Your Partnersify plan: some rule types require Growth or Advanced
- Affiliate performance tier: rules may target specific tiers only
- Active rules: only rules from your portal settings or the active campaign
- Line item filters: product and payment eligibility
Rules that fail any filter are ignored entirely.
Highest commission amount wins
Among remaining eligible rules, Partnersify calculates what each would pay and selects the highest amount.
This is intentional; affiliates get the best applicable rate, and you don't accidentally stack duplicate commissions.
Tie-breaking
If two rules produce the same commission amount, the rule with the higher affiliate tier wins (tier 3 beats tier 2).
Worked examples
Example A: overlapping percents
- Rule 1: 20% on any product
- Rule 2: 30% on annual subscriptions
- Annual $100 sale → Rule 2 wins ($30 > $20)
Example B: percent vs flat
- Rule 1: 10% on any product → $10 on $100 sale
- Rule 2: $25 flat on a new customer's first payment → $25 wins
Example C: tier-specific
- Tier 1 affiliate: 20% rule applies
- Tier 2 affiliate: 30% tier-2 rule applies; only one matches their tier, no conflict
