Self-Referral Prevention

Block commissions when affiliate and customer emails or payout details match.

Self-referral fraud is when an affiliate buys through their own referral link to earn commission on their own purchase.

How it works

When Block self-referral fraud is enabled, Partnersify compares:

  • Customer email on the Stripe sale
  • Affiliate account email
  • Affiliate payout email (PayPal/Wise address)

If any of these match, commission creation is blocked for that sale.

Enabling the block

Toggle Block self-referral fraud in Settings. Requires Growth plan or above.

If your plan lapses, the setting is preserved but ignored until you re-upgrade.

What happens to blocked commissions

The sale still appears in Sales with the affiliate attached, but the commission shows $0 with a note indicating the fraud block.

You can manually adjust if it was a false positive. See Fix attribution and commissions.

Household purchases

Legitimate household purchases with shared emails may trigger blocks. Communicate your policy clearly to affiliates so they know what to expect.
